"...Mr. Myers then referred to an original document dated 1798, relative to kindness extended to Indian Hannah, signed by a number of the residents of this county, who agreed thereby to subscribe to contribute to her maintenance, and the funds to be paid to trustees, one of whom was Mordecai Hayes, great-great-grandfather of John Russell Hayes and J. Carroll Hayes."
